Proyecto REDD+ Lomas de Nogales

The Lomas de Nogales Project is located in the department of La Caldera in the province of Salta. The owner of the domain is Lomas de Nogales S.A. and the technical managers are the environmental consulting firm EFS SRL. The project area has about 5.407 hectares, where activities are carried out, such as coniferous forestry on approximately 100 hectares and extensive livestock farming. These activities are carried out by stall holders who are located within the project area. The study area is covered by native forest belonging to the ecoregion of the Argentine Northwest corresponding to the Yungas. This ecosystem is threatened by degradation processes due to the advance of the agricultural frontier and by deforestation processes due to the presence of woody species of commercial interest. One of the main objectives of this project is to obtain the maximum amount of CO2 emissions avoided. To comply with it, it is expected to conserve the hectares of native forest present and promote.
