Description
Since the beginning of the 21st century, the Empresa de Acueducto y Alcantarillado de Bogotá ESP (EAAB - ESP) has begun the search to ensure the future supply of drinking water to more than 10 million people located in Bogotá and the surrounding municipalities. Aware that there are various types of natural and anthropogenic threats to its supply sources and infrastructure, the company has been generating plans and applying programs for the identification and adequate management of risks, in order to minimize them to the extent possible. This project seeks to conserve forest cover and high mountain natural areas through a comprehensive strategy that strengthens governance and territorial control by the EAAB ESP and other actors in the region, promotes restoration processes of natural habitats and degraded areas, contributes to the development of practices and land uses compatible with nature and implements a biodiversity monitoring and follow-up process.
