Description
The EMBERA NORTE REDD+ Project seeks the conservation of forests located in the territories of the
Embera indigenous communities organized as resguardos in the department of Chocó. The project area has a
total extension of 96.738 ha. The hole community territory is characterized for its high biodiversity
and rain tropical forests, but also for the presence of deforestation activities and social conflicts.
In the last 20 years, deforestation in these areas has always been a national concern due to its
high rates and associated social and biodiversity impacts.
