Description
Askoç Diyarbakır Biogas Plant is a biogas-to-energy project that captures biogas from animal manure -via anaerobic digestion- and utilizes it to generate thermal and electric energy through cogeneration units. The animal manure is collected from the neighbouring animal farms with vacuum trucks and transferred to the waste receiving units. Continuously stirred tank reactor (CSTR) type anaerobic digesters are used to capture methane-rich biogas. Biogas is then utilized in cogeneration units for heat and electricity generation. The thermal energy is utilized for heating anaerobic fermenters. The generated electricity is used for internal electricity requirements and supplied to the national grid.
The project activity avoids methane emission through the capture and utilization processes.
